Buck & Breck
Tucked discreetly between a police station and a bistro on Brunnenstraße, Buck & Breck is a minimalist speakeasy that epitomizes Berlin’s underground charm. With no signage and a “Closed” neon sign in the window, entry is granted only after ringing an unmarked buzzer. Inside, the bar features a sleek, Swiss-designed black table seating just 14 guests, fostering an intimate and focused atmosphere. Owned by renowned mixologist Gonçalo de Sousa Monteiro, Buck & Breck is celebrated for its precision-crafted cocktails, often featuring gin, whisky, or brandy. The bar’s namesake cocktail, a 19th-century Champagne concoction, pays homage to former U.S. President James Buchanan and his Vice President John Breckinridge. The ambiance is enhanced by dim lighting and curated art pieces, including a gold chainsaw suspended above a tureen of champagne. Notably, the bar enforces a strict no-phone policy and accepts only cash payments, encouraging guests to fully immerse themselves in the experience. Open daily from 7 PM to 2 AM, Buck & Breck offers a unique and refined cocktail experience in the heart of Berlin.
