Mahaniyom Cocktail Bar
Located above the renowned 100 Mahaseth restaurant in Bangkok's Si Phraya district, Mahaniyom Cocktail Bar is a vibrant addition to the city's dynamic bar scene. Established in 2022 by acclaimed bartenders Ronnaporn 'Neung' Kanivichaporn and Chennarong 'Jan' Bhumichitr, the bar has quickly garnered international recognition, securing the No. 19 spot on The World's 50 Best Bars list in 2023 and No. 18 on Asia's 50 Best Bars in 2024. ​ The bar's name, 'Mahaniyom,' translates to 'very popular' in Thai, reflecting its burgeoning reputation. The interior design is an eclectic fusion of Asian aesthetics and Moroccan souk-inspired elements, featuring colorful decor, a striking neon two-headed tiger mural symbolizing the founders' collaboration, and draped fabrics that create an immersive and cozy atmosphere. ​ Mahaniyom's cocktail menu is centered around the concept of 'Resourceful Cocktails,' where each drink highlights a single ingredient utilized in various forms. For instance, the 'Orange' cocktail incorporates house-made, orange-infused vermouth and distilled orange hydrosol, garnished with chips made from leftover orange peels, exemplifying the bar's commitment to sustainability and creativity. ​ Other notable concoctions include 'Pineapple,' a gin-based cocktail blending vermouth, pineapple tepache, and green pepper cordial, offering a refreshing and tangy profile. The 'Pomelo' cocktail combines rum, lillet rosé, house-made pomelo and jasmine cordial, pomelo juice, rice paddy herbs, and pomelo leaf tea, with a subtle addition of dried chili tincture providing a playful dash of spiciness. Complementing the inventive cocktails is a selection of bar snacks curated by Chef Chalee Kader of 100 Mahaseth, including papaya fritters, marinated clams, pork belly, and stuffed calamari, enhancing the overall dining experience.
